“I will give him into your hand’?” Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, I will go, but if you will not go with me, I will not go.”

 Judges 4:4-5  (ESV)

Here the scripture reminds us of a woman warrior, Deborah, a prophetess. She led thousands of men to war and came out victorious. An example of Deborah should be of the reasons a woman should pray in season and out of sense.

“the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her water jar on her shoulder. The young woman was very attractive in appearance, a maiden whom no man had known. She went down to the spring and filled her jar and came up.

Then the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water to drink from your jar.” She said, “Drink, my lord.” And she quickly let down her jar upon her hand and gave him a drink.

“When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.” So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew for all his camels”.

Genesis 24:14-20  (ESV)

When I advocate for women to live a prayerful life, this is one of the reasons a woman should pray and dedicate her ways to God. These Bible verses pointed to the importance of being hospitable not only to our household members but to strangers.

We have read about many women in the Bible who attracted the presence of God in their families and experienced a supernatural miracle of God.

The shanamite woman fed Prophet Elijah, and she received her miracle Baby after many years of barrenness.

The widow with two sons fed the Prophet of God, and she was delivered from abject poverty.

Every woman must pray to God for the spirit of hospitality, as the gift of a man makes way for him, according to the scripture.

This portion is a pointer for a woman to bench her life on divine revelations through prayers. When a woman prayers, her spiritual eyes are opened, and she begins to see clear visions and revelations that will guide her daily life.

According to the above Bible verses, some prayers can keep the woman on the right track.

Some people pray for the betterment of themselves, some for their families and others for the entire community. Prayer works.

Being a female leader demands putting God in front and allowing Him to lead while you become the follower.

Of course, His leadership is not like this world’s; He does not cut corners. He remains faithful and truthful to His promises. If he leads, you follow. You will not regret it.

Leaders must pray to God to lead justly without leading their followers astray. Reasons a woman should pray are enumerable.

Salome: a Victim of a Negative Counsel

This a one of the important reasons a woman should pray. Salome was Herodias’ daughter who was on the verge of making an important decision which could make her future.

She thought her mother would lead her on the right path, but little did she know that she was in the wrong direction for counsel. Her mother made a non-profitable decision for her which led to the killing of John the Baptist.

This shows a more significant effect that leadership is two-sided.

People are leading, and people are being taught; in this case, Herodias was the leader while Salome was being led.

There were good leaders, and there were terrible leaders in terms of mothers in the Bible.

God is the only leader that does not and has not failed from time immemorial.

End Notes

It is good to be prayerful. It saves a woman from unforeseen dramas.

It is not just about saying the prayers but it is about being specific and intentional about your wants and desires; spell them out so that when God does them, you can testify and it can also build the faith of other women.
