In the beginning, God created them male and female (Adam and Eve), and in his likeness, he made them all. Mark 10:6 brings us to the question, what can women do in Church?

Both males and females have vested responsibilities in the house of God.

God’s redemption to humanity cuts across all genders, and as Christians, there are specific roles women can perform in a church in their measure of rendering services to God.

Proverbs 31:1-9

4 “It is not the kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes intoxicating drink;

5 “Lest they drink and forget the law, and pervert the justice of all the afflicted.

6 “Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to those who are bitter of heart.

7 “Let him drink and forget his poverty and remember his misery no more.

8 “Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die.

9 “Open your mouth, judge righteously and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”

This Bible verse explains how a woman, his mother, advised Lemuel. He was a king in the Bible, and the mother’s advice is used today in preaching to the congregation.

The mother advised the son against giving his strength to a woman as a king. An advice Sampson lacked that led to his downfall. Sampson unsuspiciously entrusted his life to a woman; by giving his strength to a woman and letting her into the secret, where lies his strength.

He was betrayed by the woman he loved, and he lost all his strength because he gave it to a woman; the woman, a wicked one, betrayed him, and he lost everything because of her.

Samuel’s mother advised against such. She urged the son that even as a king, he could still derail from the rightful track and suffer like a nobody, so therefore, he should guard his ways and live above the standard of entrusting his future to a woman.

Samuel’s mother also proved that women could become better advisers in the church by advising the son against drinking solid wines.

As a wise person and as a king that wants the best for himself as well as his community, it is essential to drink to a certain level and not to be utterly intoxicated with strong wines in order not to become an object of mockery.

So, as a Christian woman, wife and leader, when you are confronted with the question, what can women do a church? With confidence, your response should be, women give sound, informed and protective advice in church.

The mother of Lamuel also advised him to always stand up for the less privileged and the voiceless in society.

There exist these people in society, and he advised that the grandson should always be on the lookout for these kinds of people and also make them feel safe and secure.

This portion of the Bible says that women can be in the advisory office. They can be looked up to for necessary church/nation-building advice.

1 Timothy 2:12

“And, I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.”

This scripture verse says that women can be permitted to be listeners and are not supposed to exercise authority over men in the church.

They are supposed to be respectful to men and not exercise authority over them. It also suggests that women should be silent and good listeners and reserve the speaking for the men.

But in 1 Corinthians 14:35, women are given the latitude to inquire further for husbands’ explanations. What this means is that; since, by marriage, the two have become one, the wife can equally make contributions to the husband while filing answers to her areas of concern, and the husband, in return, can present the same to the church.

Colossians 3:18

“Wives, submit to your husbands, as it fits in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.”

Do you still wonder what you can do in a Church? As instructed by the scripture, Wives (women) are given the duty of submission. They should respect their husbands and show them the respect they deserve. When they exercise submission in church for the children to see, they also learn from her.

What Can Women Do in Church? Singing Melodiously to the Glory of God.

Ephesians 5:19

“Speaking to one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”

This Bible verse encourages women to use their melodious voices to glorify God in church. The scripture instructs that Women should effortlessly do everything to promote harmonious living in a church.

They should communicate with one another in psalms and hymns, and spirituals instead of speaking in hate.

They should promote love and togetherness so that the spirit of God can flow in the church.

They can do this by becoming a member of the choir and becoming a member of the evangelical team to make the work of God more fun for others members of the congregation.

What Can Women Do in Church? They can take Priestly Positions.

Revelation 1:6

“And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

This portion of the Bible says that everyone, regardless of age, sex, or status, was made king and Priest to His God and Father.

This portion does not discriminate against gender or does not think that women are lesser humans than men. It states clearly that Christians ordained Kings and that women can perform excellently in the offices assigned to them as kings.

Women, unlike the men, were also assigned the priest’s duty, and they could perform excellently well without any setbacks.

Revelation 5:10

“And have made us kings and priests to our God, and we shall reign on the earth.”

According to the above Bible verse, just as men were saddled with the responsibility of subduing the earth, women were also given the authority to stop and make a better part of the world we are living in.

Women are also given the authority to subdue the earth, the creatures and everything therein.

What Can Women Do in Church? Women can take the Office of a Sunday School Teacher

Proverbs 22:6

“Train up a child in a way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Here, in today’s church, women have played a more prominent role in the office of Sunday school teaching, and impacting knowledge than some of the men do.

They give out their best for the child to learn from the best and become the possible best they can be.

The Sunday department is one of the fundamental units of the church in which women take an active part.

It is an excellent department because, in it will be future birth leaders, prominent men and women of influence, and women are giving their best in this direction.

What Can Women Do in Church? They Can be a Pastor’s Wife

At marriage, man and wife become one according to the holy scripture. When man and wife become on, there is a clear indication the wife can support the husband with anything he does, and the husband finds her worthy of becoming part of his ministry.

It means that the husband builds the wife to the level he wants her to be and supports her with the needed resources to become the best she can be for herself, her family and the church at large.

Women can form an advisory group to look into the affairs of women that are having difficulties with their marriages in the Church

Women can be helpful to other women in the church by forming advisory groups to look into the affairs of other women that are having difficulties in serving God the right way, in marriages and in raising Godly Children.

The advice sounds easy and understandable when it comes from other women; they might have been through a similar situation, but it sounds somehow when a man advises a woman on such sensitive issues.

It is pretty easy for the women because when women advise their female audience that they have been there and by advising, they know precisely what it feels like being bere. They also believe they have the solution and answers to the pending concerns.

Women Lend Helping Hand to the Poor and the Less Privileged in the Church 

The book of Galatians 6:2 calls us to bear one another’s burdens and hurt those hurting. There should never be a time when you are embarrassed or ashamed of how you are affected by the world’s sin and brokenness.

Women in the church can lend helping hands to the oppressed and bring them to a place of comfort and sustainability.

Matthew 18:19-20

“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them”.

Christ makes it clear to us that anytime people gather in his name, irrespective of their number, and agree on a thing, he is always in their midst.

Aside from having God’s presence in their midst, the Bible verse assures them of receiving answers from their petition to God.

Although women were made to be the companion of men, they can still perform essential duties in the house of God (Church). They can aid in extending and expanding the gospel of Christ to places that are knowledgeable about Jesus Christ.

There are women Evangelists and women Pastors today in the churches of God, and they are doing perfectly fine.

They are living a purposeful life. Some are married to pastors, and they assist their husbands with the message of the gospel. Some are pastor’s daughters and they simply preach and tell others about Jesus.
