Have you ever wondered what the Bible say about the beauty of a woman? Physical beauty is appealing and adorable to the eyes, but the Bible has its version of defining the beauty of a woman.
The beauty of a woman isn’t showcased in the clothing and luxuries of designers but as an expression of character following biblical standards.
Bible Verses about the Beauty of a Woman
The Beauty of a Woman comes from God
1. 2 Corinthians 3:18
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV)
2. Psalm 34:5
“Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed”.
Psalm 34:5 (ESV)
The beauty of a woman should radiate and shine through God’s end to a woman’s end.
This beauty will not bring shame nor reproach to the woman. God is the source of every good thing, including the beauty of a woman.
God is willing to beautify a woman, most notably when she is willing to bear the image of God as her armour. The beauty of a woman is God sent.
3. Proverbs 31:30
“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised”.
Proverbs 31:30 (ESV)
This verse of the scripture talks about the beauty of a woman in a godly way.
It is advantageous to be beautiful, but the most profiting thing is the fear of the Lord.
Charm is deceiving; it can deceive anyone but the woman that fears the Lord; she shall be commended for her godly looks and good works upon the children of men.
4. Proverbs 3:15
“She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with”.
Proverbs 3:15 (ESV)
The Bible, in this verse, says that the beauty of a woman cannot be compared to any jewel.
The beauty of a woman is not sourced from the jewel, and it not depending on any treasure. It is the beauty that comes from God that makes the difference. It distinguishes and comes with elegance.
The beauty of a woman is costlier than a jewel, and nothing anywhere is comparable to it.
5. Proverbs 31:26
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue”.
Proverbs 31:26 (ESV)
The beauty of a woman is not only in her physical attributes but also in the way she speaks and teaches with her tongue.
She does not speak meaninglessly, but she opens her mouth with wisdom. The beautiful woman is known for talking and speaking in good and trying times.
A woman’s beauty is not embedded in her physical adornment, but it is also seen in how she approaches and talks to others.
6. Esther 2:7
“He was bringing up Hadassah, that is Esther, the daughter of his uncle, for she had neither father nor mother.
“The young woman had a beautiful figure and was lovely to behold, and when her father and her mother died, Mordecai took her as his daughter”.
Esther 2:7 (ESV)
The beauty of a woman, according to this verse of the Bible, said that Esther had a beautiful figure and was also lovely to look at.
The Bible did not say that her beauty came with adornment. God blessed her, and it manifested in her appearance and in the way she carried herself.
Esther was beautiful, and it was recognizable. Her natural beauty was appealing that she captured the attention of a King and became the Queen.
7. Hebrews 2:10
“For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering”.
Hebrews 2:10 (ESV)
The beauty of a woman is sometimes perfected through suffering. Just like gold, she must pass through a refining process for her inner beauty to be revealed.
Even Jesus was perfected through His suffering on the cross of Calvary. The diamond shines more and more when it is put in the fire, and so is a woman’s beauty.
Sometimes, a woman is made to pass through a lot before getting to her seat of glory so that she would value it when she finally gets it, just as Esther did.
Just like Queen Esther, she was an orphan, and she was humble. She was obedient to her uncle, Mordecai, and because she adhered to the uncle’s advice, she climbed to her seat of glory as a Queen.

8. 1 Peter 3:3-4
“Do not let your adorning be external — the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear”.
1 Peter 3:3-4 (ESV)
The beauty of a woman should not just be external, but it should also come from the inside; the beauty of character.
The beauty of a woman should be more than the braiding of hair and the putting of gold jewelry, even the wearing of clothes.
These things are undoubtedly good, but the true beauty of God in a woman’s life should be that of the holy spirit, sound mind and good character.
9. 1 Timothy 2:9-10
“Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control,
“not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness — with good works”.
1 Timothy 2:9-10 (ESV)
The beauty of a woman is not known or seen because of how sparse a woman’s dress appears. Women should practice and dress decently and gorgeously.
There is no beauty in an indecent dress. The beauty of a woman can only be appreciated when she dresses responsibly. A beautiful woman should adorn herself with dresses that profess godliness, her works.
Dorcas, Tabitha is a typical example of a woman dressed with good works.
An Example of a Woman with the Beauty of Good Work from the Bible
10. Acts 9:36
“Now there was in Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas. She was full of good works and acts of charity”.
Acts 9:36 (ESV)
Dorcas
Dorcas was a disciple of Jesus Christ, and she made it known through her excellent work and act of service to humanity.
She was also a widow, but she was not a self-pitied widow. She stood up and worked hard not only for herself but also for the oppressed and the less privileged individuals in her community.
She exemplified her excellent work in helping out people in her community with the little she hard. Dorcas touched people’s life to a significantly greater dimension.
Dorcas did not use all the money she had to adorn herself, but she looked out for the needs of others in society. When Dorcas died, the wailing of the people she helped returned her to life.
11. Proverbs 3:15-18
“She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honour.
“Her ways are pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are blessed”.
Proverbs 3:15-18 (ESV)
The beauty of a woman is characterised in this portion of the Bible as being the peaceful anchor and a blessing to others.
A beautiful woman, as described by this bike portion, is more precious than a jewel, and long life is in her right hand because of the excellent work she does.
The blessing that comes with good works and her left hands are not empty; instead, it is filled with riches and honour; She is also a tree of life, and she bears fruits that serve as a blessing to others.
12. Zachariah 9:17
“For how great is his goodness, and how great his beauty! Grain shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the young women”.
Zachariah 9:17 (ESV)
Here the beauty of a woman mirrors through her goodness and kind gestures towards others. Her beauty is further presented as a grain pleasurable to both men and other women.
13. Ecclesiastes 3:11
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end”.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 (ESV)
Here the scripture is talking about God’s ways of perfecting the beauty of a woman when she surrenders to the will of God.
God is faithful to beautify the lives of his children, such that from one generation to another, mortals can’t decipher the mystery behind the beauty of God in the lives of his believers.
Conclusion
In today’s society where almost everything is artificialised, even beauty. It is pertinent for Godly women to beautify their lives with the word of God and render selfless services to the less privileged in their community.
Physical adornment does not amount to beauty as prescribed in the scripture. Instead, God’s beauty is radiant through a woman when she is meek, humble and soft-spoken.
According to the biblical standards, as seen in the above Bible verses, indecent dressing devalues a woman’s worth, which is why submitting to the redefining process of God amplifies the beauty of a woman.
In Genesis 24:46, I quote: “She quickly let down her jar from her shoulder and said, ‘Drink, and I will give your camels drink also.’ So I drank, and she gave the camels drink also”.
The beauty of Rebekah’s character attracted her to Isaac. So many maidens went along with her to draw water from the well. Her character distinguished her in the crowd. This is the Godly kind of the beauty of a woman.
